The name Kayu means wood in Indonesian, and this very theme forms the focus of the composition. Guaiac wood and Virginian cedar meet frankincense from Oman and a blend of oud from Thailand and Laos. Despite these powerful raw materials, Kayu does not feel like a classic heavy oud fragrance.
Italian mandarin and rosemary bring a fresh and aromatic side to it. Vanilla simultaneously provides a soft sweetness. This combination of freshness, wood, and sweetness remains particularly characteristic of Kayu.
Guaiac wood gives the fragrance a warm and balsamic character, while cedarwood provides a drier structure. Frankincense adds a gentle, resinous depth. Tonka bean, musk, and powdery notes round off the woods and give the composition its soft and pleasantly groomed effect.
Kayu thus combines opposites without feeling heavy. The fragrance is simultaneously sweet and dry, soft and woody. The oud remains part of a balanced composition and does not stand in isolation in the foreground.
