The Gate – Niche Perfume from Paris
The Gate is a Parisian niche brand that conceptualizes its Extraits de Parfum in collections. The Love Collection works with warm, sensual accords, the Caravan Collection with oud, incense, and leather, and the Bleu Collection with freshness and citrus. Sixteen compositions are available at MYONA.
What they all share is a high concentration and a clearly defined evolution – most of the fragrances are hardly comparable to their initial impression after just a few hours.
Oud, leather, and incense – the Caravan side
Desert Caravan opens with yuzu, mandarin, and incense, leads through Damask rose and orange blossom, and ends in oud, black leather, guaiac wood, and patchouli.
Under Oud is warmer and more resinous: plum, pepper, and sage meet sandalwood, saffron, and Siberian fir before oud, vanilla, tonka bean, and benzoin take over.
Oud Tonic plays with a gin and tonic idea: lime zest, juniper berry, and mandarin, followed by saffron, incense, and vetiver, and finally oud and black leather.
Pure Oudiction is the brand's most unusual composition. Cannabis, mate, and cardamom meet hay, licorice, and suede, with a base formed by smoky notes, oud, and vetiver.
Warm and sweet compositions
Memories sets black cherry and black raspberry against dark tobacco and incense, with maple syrup and tonka bean underneath – fruity sweetness with smoky depth.
Ivory Temptation opens with white peach, nectarine, and cardamom, before cinnamon, clove, rose, and ylang-ylang follow. Sandalwood, vetiver, and cashmere musk form a soft base.
Sensual Dream combines nectarine and apple blossom with tuberose and ylang-ylang over a base of vanilla, benzoin, and patchouli.
Duet II is designed to be darker: nutmeg, jasmine, and incense lead to suede, tobacco absolute, and vanilla absolute.
Precious Moment works with dried fruits, cardamom, tobacco blossom, saffron blossom, and tuberose over patchouli.
Secret Encounter begins with ginger, davana, and pink pepper, and leads via leather and jasmine sambac to amber, vanilla, and cedarwood.
Freshness, citrus, and fruit – the Bleu side
Le Grand Bleu opens with pineapple, apple, grapefruit, and ginger; the heart is carried by magnolia and rose, the base by caramel, tonka bean, vanilla, and vetiver.
Sous Les Nuages is significantly greener: yuzu, mint, rosemary, and lemon, with ginger, thyme, and rose underneath, and finally guaiac wood, amber, and nagarmotha.
First Sight works with spearmint, pear sorbet, and lemonade over elderflower, sage, musk, and cedarwood.
Inside Out focuses on passion fruit, mandarin, and blackcurrant, followed by frangipani, magnolia, and absinthe over a base of vanilla ice cream.
Silent Symphony is the most summery composition: pineapple, apple, and a piña colada accord over coconut, caramel, amber, and vanilla.
Golden Hour combines mango, coconut, and exotic fruits with jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla.
